FAQ

Coaching, Therapy… What’s the Difference?

The California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists defines therapy as the use, application, and integration of the diagnosis, assessment, prognosis, and treatment of mental disorders (CAMFT, 2015). I am able to see clients for therapy in the state of Illinois only, under the clinical license of Chanté Woods, LCSW at Phoenix Rising LLC.

Coaching on the other hand is a far more holistic approach that assumes a baseline of wellness within the client. If you’re interested in understanding yourself and your motivations better and leveling up in your life or career, coaching might be right for you.

How long do sessions last?

Individual sessions are 50 minutes in length. Group sessions are typically two hours in length, but can be flexed to accommodate larger groups.

What are your rates?

Coaching is a significant and meaningful investment in yourself and your future. Rates are based upon predictable results and are rooted in value. Get in touch for more information on rates.

How often will we meet for sessions?

Individual sessions are scheduled weekly to help you become comfortable, and to create an action plan around goals. Established clients who have met their goals can schedule maintenance sessions on an as-needed basis.

A six-month commitment is required for DEI consulting, with sessions occurring twice per month.

Where are sessions held?

For the most part, all sessions are conducted virtually. The convenience of being able to start right away, having no commute, and being able to attend in your PJs? Chef’s kiss. In-person group sessions may be possible, however, just ask!

What will it be like to work with you?

The relationship we'll have is a unique one. We'll co-create a truly safe space where you can talk about what’s going on in your life without worrying about anything else. This is YOUR space. Friends and family are great, but don’t necessarily give you that non-judgmental, no-strings-attached outlet I provide. You’ll get to explore your goals and take the next steps in determining how to navigate the dynamics of your life and act. I will provide the tools to make those changes through concrete exercises in self-reflection, as well as helping you gain insight into yourself. I won’t lie, sometimes I will push you, but always with empathy and respect. You can expect highs and lows but ultimately, you'll find a place to clarify your thoughts, learn about yourself, and find new direction in your life.

What is your attendance policy?

While we all agree to attend sessions as consistently as possible, sometimes things come up. If you are more than 10 minutes late to a session, I will assume that you cannot make it and will reach out to reschedule. If I am more than 10 minutes late to a session, you may assume the session is cancelled and you will not be responsible for any payment.

To avoid a late cancellation fee, please reach out to reschedule or cancel your appointment at least 24 hours in advance. Any changes or cancellations within the 24 hour window are subject to a 100% cancellation fee.
